The Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics has the unique responsibility within the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy to train graduate and postgraduate scientists in the principles of translational research and provide classroom and clinical instruction for pharmacy students in the practice of pharmacy. We engage in innovative teaching and patient-centered research, preparing our students to be professional and scientific leaders.

Faculty
Our faculty have expertise in clinical pharmacology, drug toxicity, drug development, education, and practice innovations. Our Division houses the majority of translational, bench-to-bedside research efforts and includes clinical practitioners who bring insights from the patient-care setting to their teaching, translational research, and professional service activities. Many of our faculty hold joint appointments in the UNC School of Medicine, the Department of Pharmacy at the UNC Medical Center, and other allied health schools.

We provide classroom and clinical instruction for pharmacy students in the practice of pharmacy and train graduate and postgraduate scientists in the principles of translational research.

Research
We work to optimize drug therapy through the generation, integration, and translation of scientific information between the bench and the bedside, the patient and the population. Through our research, we generate new knowledge in drug treatment, and accelerate its application to improve patient care. We advance clinical practice through innovative translational research and through the education and training of clinical scientists and current practitioners.
